OwnCDN for Video, Static Assets and High-Traffic Projects
OwnCDN is a custom CDN and edge delivery platform for video, images, archives, static files and media-heavy projects. The setup is designed around your traffic profile, geography, origin, storage, cache strategy and monitoring requirements.
- Suitable for video streaming, VOD, online cinema, learning platforms and media libraries.
- Edge nodes can run on VPS, Smart Servers, dedicated servers or mixed infrastructure.
- Origin, cache, storage, transcode and balancing are selected for your actual workload.
- Monitoring, bandwidth graphs, HTTPS, secure links, referer/GEO controls and custom setup are available.
OwnCDN is not a fixed off-the-shelf plan. It is project infrastructure: before launch we review content type, traffic, locations, origin, storage, link protection and support requirements.
Where OwnCDN fits
Video streaming and VOD
Deliver HLS, MP4, FLV and other video content for online cinema, private media libraries, VOD and live-related workflows.
Static assets and downloads
Serve images, archives, install packages, media files, documents and other static content from edge nodes.
High-traffic projects
Build a CDN layer for traffic spikes, distributed audiences and predictable network capacity requirements.
Custom geography
Select locations around audience, origin, data sources, traffic cost and routing requirements.
OwnCDN architecture
The platform is built from several roles: base infrastructure, edge cache nodes, origin or storage, optional transcoding and traffic balancing. The exact composition depends on the use case: some projects need a lightweight cache layer, while others need a full media delivery platform with storage and video processing.
Base infrastructure
The foundation is built on servers in the required locations. VPS, Cloud VPS, Smart Servers and dedicated servers can be combined when it fits the workload.
Edge nodes
Edge nodes handle user traffic, cache hot content and distribute load across locations and network ports.
Origin and storage
Origin can be your existing storage or a dedicated storage layer. For large datasets we can discuss Ceph, Gluster or another suitable design.
Transcode layer
Video workflows can include conversion, HLS/MP4 preparation, thumbnails, timelines and poster frames. GPU servers are useful for heavy processing.
Balancing
Balancing can use DNS, weighted routing, provider-specific options or Anycast where it is technically and commercially justified.
Monitoring
Availability, load, bandwidth, cache behavior, storage, origin health and edge node status should be monitored after launch.
Platform capabilities
Cache control
Hot content caching, cache purge, TTL strategy and delivery rules tailored to your content type.
Secure delivery
Secure links, HTTPS, referer protection, country restrictions and other content publication controls.
Application integrations
Integration with KVS, WordPress, SmartCJ and other applications can be discussed for a specific workflow.
Bandwidth on demand
For selected scenarios we can discuss bandwidth on demand and consumption-based traffic in available locations.
Recommended infrastructure paths
Starter CDN layer
For a smaller project, geography test, separate media library or static content cache.
- 1-2 edge nodes
- Existing origin
- Basic monitoring
- HTTPS
Video delivery platform
For VOD, online cinema, learning platforms and projects with regular video delivery.
- Multiple edge nodes
- Origin/cache strategy
- Bandwidth graphs
- Secure links
Storage + CDN
For projects that need to store and serve a large volume of files, archives or media assets.
- Storage layer
- Backup strategy
- Cache nodes
- Monitoring
High-bandwidth CDN
For large downloads, CDN origin, media delivery and network-heavy workloads where bandwidth matters.
- 10Gbps / 100Gbps options
- Traffic-heavy workloads
- Regional edge
- Custom routing

FAQ
Is OwnCDN a fixed plan?
No. OwnCDN is project-based CDN and edge infrastructure. Composition, cost and timeline depend on traffic, locations, origin, storage, security rules and support requirements.
Can I use an existing origin?
Yes, if the origin can reliably serve content to edge nodes. If it cannot, a separate storage or origin layer can be designed.
Does OwnCDN work for HLS and VOD?
Yes. For video workflows we separately plan cache strategy, segment size, origin, transcode, bandwidth and link protection.
Can transcoding be added?
Yes. Heavy transcoding often benefits from GPU servers, but the final design depends on video volume, formats and processing queues.
Which locations are available?
Locations are selected around your audience and available infrastructure. A setup can use one location, multiple regions or a mixed design.
How is pricing calculated?
Pricing usually includes servers, traffic, storage, setup, monitoring, support, administration and additional platform components.
Need a CDN platform for your content?
Describe your content type, current origin, user geography, peak traffic, storage needs, secure links and monitoring requirements. We will prepare a suitable OwnCDN architecture.
